Welcome & Bem Vindo!

Mission
Our mission is to

  • Promote a love for learning
  • Support and compliment the three IB programmes and the school’s Information Technology curriculum
  • Promote a stimulating environment that encourages inquiry, enrichment, self-direction and communication of ideas through print and non-print media.

Hours
The LISA secondary library physical space will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.  Check out what’s going on in the secondary library or schedule time with Ms. Vance by visiting our Library Schedule.

Staff
Our librarian is Katy Vance. Katy is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Library and Information Science in North Carolina, USA. Her favorite books are The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and Wanting Mor by Rukhsana Khan. Contact her at seclibrary@lisluanda.com.

Policies
MYP students and parents can borrow up to four books for two weeks at a time.  DP students can borrow any number of books neccesary for their academics, provided their library account is in good standing. Books are circulated for two weeks and may be renewed or returned before the due date.

Overdue notices will be handed out in your homeroom; late fees can be worked off in the library. Lost or damaged books incur a fine calculated at the cost of the book plus 40% postage and handling.

We have an open door policy in the LISA secondary library.  Students may visit any time to check out books, work on an information need, read, create or just hang out. If you are coming from class, please have a hall pass signed by your teacher.
